Mission: The IAVCEI Commission on Volcanic Hazards and Risk (CVHR) The commission on volcanic hazards and risk facilitates discussion and collaboration between academic research and agencies responsible for monitoring volcanoes and for advising on decision-making and policies that reduce the societal impacts of volcanic hazards. The commission focuses on understanding, quantifying, and communicating the hazards, the extent and likelihood of their occurrence, and assessing their proximal and far-field impacts and effects on societies.

Main roles:
– Promote advances in volcanic hazard and risk assessment methodologies.
– Foster collaboration between researchers, observatories, and practictioners.
– Coordinate and support three working groups.
– Promote access to volcanic hazard and risk data, tools, and best practices.
– Facilitate workshops, seminars, and discussions on volcanic hazard and risk.
– Manage and support an active membership network.

The Commission membership is open to researchers, practictioners, and anyone else interested in volcanic hazards and risk.
